Events Description
The IWBF Wheelchair Basketball World Championships is the largest international wheelchair basketball competition featuring the best men’s and women’s national teams from around the world. Held every four years, it is the pinnacle event for the sport.
Ottawa 2026 will welcome 28 teams (16 men’s and 12 women’s) to The Arena at TD Place and Carleton University as they compete to be crowned world champions. The event will feature 336 athletes and approximately 1,200 participants, attract tens of thousands of spectators and hundreds of thousands of viewers worldwide, and help inspire millions through the power of inclusive sport.
Fans can expect fast-paced action, remarkable athleticism and high-intensity competition from the opening tip to the final buzzer. Whether you are a long-time supporter or discovering wheelchair basketball for the first time, Ottawa 2026 offers a can’t-miss opportunity to experience the speed, skill and strategy of the sport on the world stage.
