Events Description
Violinist Simone Lamsma steps in for this special program, performing Korngold’s lush and cinematic Violin Concerto in D major, a work that holds deep meaning for Music Director Alexander Shelley and his long artistic journey with the NAC Orchestra.
The concert opens with Nicole Lizée’s Zeiss After Dark, a mesmerizing orchestral tribute to the candlelit cinematography of Stanley Kubrick’s Barry Lyndon.
The evening concludes with Beethoven’s monumental Symphony No. 3 “Eroica”, a work whose explosive opening chords reshaped orchestral music forever. Moving from tension and struggle to radiant triumph, the “Eroica” remains one of Beethoven’s most daring and emotionally charged creations.
