Events Description
On April 8, the Ottawa area will experience a near-total solar eclipse.
Pick up a free pair of eclipse glasses and head outside to the Plaza to watch it.
Make sure you read the information and safety warning and to see where to get your eclipse glasses.
If you prefer, you can watch the live stream from inside the museum.
Throughout the day, science interpreters will demonstrate the use of LightSound, an accessibility device, which translates the visual experience of the eclipse into sound.
The eclipse will begin at 2:11 p.m. and will be done at 4:35 p.m.
Around 3:25 p.m., there will be temporary darkness when 98.5% of the sun is eclipsed by the moon.
