Aurora Cultural Centre presents Farmer’s Market Pop-up: Rose Zhao

Witness our upcoming exhibiting artist at work at the Aurora Farmer’s Market!

On July 19, Rose Zhao will be bringing her over 20 years-refined specialty within the art of gongbi to the Aurora Farmer’s Market. A traditional painting technique with over 2000 years of ancient rooting in China, gongbi – translating to ‘meticulous’ – is notable for its commitment to realism, offering highly detailed, life-like textures within carefully balanced compositions. It is opposite to xieyi, a style of painting where the focus is to capture the essence of an object rather than its literal appearance.
