Events Description

Hurricanes, Wars, and Poor Romantic Choices: For over 20 years, Melanie Marshall has run the many risks of the foreign journalist life. She kept flying into places other people found worrying (Afghanistan, Syria, China, Ukraine), and came home with her sense of humour and her sanity largely intact. She also came home with a lot of stories that never made the news: from what not to do in an earthquake to the safe handling of a baby panda. She won a bunch of fancy awards for her work. None for her romantic choices. She’ll tell you the stories she normally only tells her friends over a drink, so it’s a good thing the bar will be open.

Then it’s your turn. Ask the thing you’ve always wanted to ask. Where do you go to the bathroom in a war zone? (There is an answer.) Nothing’s off limits.

The world is a mess. Melanie has seen more of it up close than most, and she’s still convinced we’re not doomed. Come and find out why.
