How to Survive a Bear Attack, by Claire Cameron, finalist for the 2025 Governor General’s Literary Award in Non-Fiction, investigates a rare bear attack in Algonquin Park while reflecting on her own battle with genetic cancer. Blending nature writing, true crime and memoir, Cameron explores fear, resilience and survival.
By the Lake Book Club hosts six Tuesday-night events from February to December with top Canadian authors and Humber Polytechnics alumni. Each in-person event features readings, discussions, Q&A, book signings and ASL interpretation, while virtual sessions include live subtitles and audio access.
