Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport, owned and operated by PortsToronto, is a world-class, award-winning airport providing 2.8 million passengers with convenient access into and out of Canada’s largest city. Located on Toronto Island, just minutes from downtown, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport opened in 1939. In the years that followed, Billy Bishop Toronto City Airport has served as an important commercial aviation centre connecting Toronto to the world; a training ground for both the Royal Canadian and Royal Norwegian Air Forces during World War II; a hub for General Aviation and life-saving emergency Medevac services.

What to Expect:
Take the underwater pedestrian tunnel, to reach the island atrium and mainland pavilion, as well as a staging area to view the airport’s runway operations and aircraft up close;
Explore the airport’s many public art installations, including a new installation in the pedestrian tunnel that plays into the ‘The World in a City’ theme;
Visit the airport’s fire hall and maintenance facility, which will give kids of all ages the opportunity to explore the airport’s state-of-the-art safety vehicles;

Access Limitation:
Both the ferry and pedestrian tunnel are accessible and serviced by elevator. Moving through the pedestrian tunnel requires approximately 6-minutes of walking, and it is equipped with movators to assist passengers. The ferry departs approximately every 15 minutes and is accessible.
