I’m So Glad We Had This Time Together by Maurice Vellekoop – By the Lake Book Club

I’m So Glad We Had This Time Together, by 2024 Toronto Book Award winner Maurice Vellekoop, is a graphic memoir tracing his journey from a queer boy in a strict Christian home to a renowned artist. Set in 1970s Toronto, it delves into family, faith, sexuality, and art’s transformative power, blending humor and poignancy.

By the Lake Book Club hosts six Tuesday-night events from February to December with top Canadian authors and Humber Polytechnics alumni. Each in-person event features readings, discussions, Q&A, book signings, and ASL interpretation, while virtual sessions include live subtitles and audio access.
