Events Description
Jay Douglas is a three-time Juno Award nominee, music producer, and bandleader of the Jay Douglas All-Star Band. He has performed at festivals worldwide, including Toronto’s Rastafest Festival and the 4 Seasons Reggae Cruise in Atlanta, Georgia.
He has worked with international reggae stars such as Beres Hammond, Freddie McGregor, Marcia Griffiths, Luciano, Ken Boothe, Leroy Sibbles, Fab5 Band, General Tree, Jesse “Dubmatix” King, Ziggy Marley, Lyn Tait, and the great Ernest Ranglin. Jay has also been deeply involved in community work, including collaborating with Councillor Josh Colle to establish Reggae Lane in Toronto.
His professional career began as the frontman of “The Cougars,” a popular group on the Caribbean nightclub scene in Toronto and Montreal during the 1960s and 1970s, performing a dynamic mix of Ska, Rocksteady, Reggae, Rhythm & Blues, Soul, and Funk.
