Events Description

On Thursday, March 5, the VC2 Cello Duo will shake up the Music in the Afternoon concert season with an animated presentation featuring fresh takes on favourite works by Bach and Beethoven, alongside lively new works.

Several of these captivating new works were written especially for the duo by Canadian composers Andrew Staniland, Fjóla Evans, and Dinuk Wijeratne, and the program will feature a world premiere by Matt Brubeck. Amy Hillis, WMCT’s new artistic director, will join them on violin for several of these works, including an arrangement of Beethoven’s String Trio No. 1 in E-flat Major, Op. 3.
