The program features two iconic scores that redefined the role of orchestral music in cinema. Nino Rota’s evocative music for The Godfather blends Sicilian folk influences with classical forms, enriching the film’s themes of family and legacy. John Williams’s epic Star Wars score draws on the grandeur of composers like Wagner and Holst, using recurring motifs to represent characters and ideas throughout the saga. Together, these masterpieces showcase the power of orchestral music to shape cinematic storytelling.
