Events Description

Founded in 2001 by Tonya Williams, Reelworld Film Festival is dedicated to empowering emerging Indigenous and racialized storytellers to showcase films which inspire social change. As a platform for underrepresented voices, Reelworld showcases Canadian and International films that explore some of the most current and pressing issues facing our world today. In addition to hosting industry panels, workshops and talks, Reelworld showcases narrative features, documentaries, shorts, music videos, episodic content and VR/360 films that spark conversation and fuel social impact. Join us October 17-21 for six days of films that raise awareness, spark conversation, and create greater understanding of the world around us.

Reelworld’s 2019 Opening Night Gala Film and Reception is sponsored by TD Bank Group. The festival kicks off Thursday, October 17 at Glenn Gould Studio, 250 Front Street West. On October 18th, Filmmaker Panels and the festival favourite installation, the Virtual Reality Zone, will take place at the Toronto Reference Library, at 789 Yonge Street (one block north at Yonge and Bloor).

Festival Film screenings will be held at Famous Player Canada Square located at 2190 Yonge Street. The programming and screenings segment of Reelworld’s 2019 Festival wraps up with the Awards and Closing Ceremony, held Sunday, October 20th, also at Famous Player Canada Square. The screening schedule, ticketing information and additional details will be available in the 2019 Reelworld Film Festival Program Guide, and at On Monday, October 21st, the Reelworld Emerging 20 Filmmaker Incubator program will be in full swing.
