Events Description
Ever wanted to play Brazilian drums? This two-hour pop-up workshop is where you start. Samba reggae comes from the streets of Salvador, Bahia – the rhythm that blocos like Olodum and Ile Aiye carried from their neighbourhoods to the world stage. You will get a drum, learn your own part in the rhythm from zero, and by the end the whole room plays the groove together as one band. Most people who come have never held a drumstick before, and that is exactly who this workshop is for. All instruments are provided (real Contemporanea drums), and all levels are welcome. The workshop is led by Pato Irie, director of Toronto samba reggae group TDot Batu. Only 20 spots are available.
