Events Description
Sinfonia Toronto presents a wonderfully varied program of music from three eras and from Canada, England, France, and Vienna.
Maestro Arman leads the orchestra in Elgar’s lyrical Serenade, the world premiere of a folk-inspired Sinfonietta by Montreal composer Petros Shoujounian, the first performance of Toronto composer Colin Eatock’s beautiful settings of poems by Bengali literary icon Rabindrath Tagore, a famous Romantic solo violin showpiece, and a lush orchestral version of Beethoven’s famous Pathétique sonata. Two exciting young Canadian soloists will be presented—soprano Kripa Nageshwar will perform the Eatock songs, and violinist Evan Pyne will appear in Saint-Saëns’ brilliant Romantic virtuoso show-stopper, the Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso.
