Events Description

After launching in September 2025 with monthly weekday shows, Spotlight at The Second City is proud to announce their ongoing sketch comedy showcase will now be presented in weekend slots at The Second City’s Theatre ‘73 in Toronto. The fall season of Spotlight at The Second City will kick off with sketch comedy trio Brain Frogs, and ensemble The Midnight Snacks, on September 4 and 5, 2026.

Hosted and produced by Taylor Hreljac and Gabe Meacher, Spotlight at The Second City presents monthly showcases featuring two buzzing sketch comedy acts performing 30 minute sets for a two night run with brand new shows, exciting experiments, and Best-Ofs.

Brain Frogs are an alternative Canadian force from three different walks of comedy, and parts of the country. Combining Hull, QC’s Pov Minhas, Kelowna, BC’s Maddy Atamanchuk, and Leaside’s Jim Temple, Brain Frogs have been performing together since 2022, and have been featured at TOsketchfest, Montreal Sketchfest, and Sketch To The Death. Made up of vastly different people (brown, woman, ginger) and personalities (desperate, stoned, and reluctant bro), the three Brain Frogs are constantly exploring how they get along and why it just works. Often compared to I Think You Should Leave, Brain Frogs forces audiences to laugh at their dynamic, and feel as awkward as they do.

The Midnight Snacks are a Toronto based sketch comedy ensemble fuelled by silliness, whimsy, and the kind of laughs shared between best pals. What started as a group of comedic hopefuls has grown into a tight-knit powerhouse of performers who have sharpened their talents across sketch, stand-up, television, film, and improv stages. After a sold out run of their debut show 51st State of Mind, and a sold out presentation of their show Shtickin’ Together at TOsketchfest, The Midnight Snacks are back with their greatest hits featuring a stripped down version of themselves … clothing not optional (Please wear clothing). The Midnight Snacks are Jazmine Campanale, Victoria Schupp, Peter Gott, Tamika Poetzsch, Marisa Blankier, Ren-David Dimen, Robert Defina, Steve Jessop, Anthony Santarosa, and Jacqueline Ashton.
