Sugar Heat is one of Canada’s most acclaimed Latin crossover bands, based in Toronto and captivating audiences since 2006. Founded and led by Mexican-born vocalist and guitarist Jay Vazquez — often referred to by the Toronto Sun as the “Canadian Carlos Santana” — the band is renowned for its musical excellence, charisma, and refined stage presence.
A truly multicultural ensemble, Sugar Heat brings together performers with roots in Mexico, Portugal, Trinidad and Tobago, and Canada’s West Coast. This diversity shapes a rich and sophisticated sound that blends contemporary Latin pop with timeless classics.
The repertoire spans beloved Latino-American icons such as Gloria Estefan, Marc Anthony, Ricky Martin, Shakira, Jennifer Lopez, and Pitbull, while also honouring legendary artists including Celia Cruz, Carlos Santana, and Selena, alongside select American favourites reimagined through an elegant Latin lens.
Featuring full percussion and rhythm sections, a polished horn ensemble, and both male and female vocalists, Sugar Heat delivers an elevated musical experience — energetic yet refined — inviting guests to dance, connect, and enjoy the evening well beyond the final course.
