Events Description
Sunthar V just might be one of Toronto’s most famous comedians nobody’s heard of. Hailing from Scarborough, he’s performed to sold-out audiences across Europe, the UK, India, Canada, and the US — becoming the first openly queer Tamil-Canadian comic to tour globally.
What began as a hobby while working in banking in 2018 turned into a full-time pursuit after losing his job in 2022. Since then, he’s sold out every Toronto show he’s produced, including his bilingual debut hour Avana Nee, which drew over 1,200 attendees. In 2024, The Globe and Mail named him one of nine Canadian artists “living bold and fearlessly,” and in 2025 he performed two shows at Canada’s largest comedy festival, Just for Laughs.
Massey Hall marks the culmination of Sunthar’s self-funded, self-produced rise as a Tamil-Canadian artist making waves internationally — bringing Canadian comedy beyond English and French into one of the world’s oldest languages: Tamil.
Mithusha, better known as Me2Chat, is a comedic force whose sharp, relatable content has garnered millions of views and a devoted global following. Born and raised in Montreal, her signature catchphrases, dance moves, and Gen Z wit have made her a standout voice in Tamil-Canadian comedy. Under Sunthar V’s mentorship, she’s transitioned from viral digital sketches to sold-out stand-up shows across Canada and abroad, establishing herself as one of the most exciting emerging South Asian comedians today.
Having two Tamil-Canadians take the stage at Massey Hall is not just a milestone — it’s a celebration of culture, community, and Tamil heritage during Tamil Heritage Month and Thai Pongal, observed around the world.
