Events Description
For Flamenco, ‘Tango’ is a palo (a specific style of the art form). But for many people, ‘Tango’ might mean Argentine Tango…. so what’s the difference? 🤔
Both Argentine Tango and Flamenco originated in marginalized communities and immigrant cultures in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, and are defined by their passion, melancholy, and improvisational nature.
Pherhaps the key difference lies here – both are passionate, but Argentine Tango centers on the connection with a partner, while Flamenco emphasizes an inner confrontation with oneself…..
Curious? Come experience it for yourself! 😉
Featuring Argentine Tango dancers Junko Mita Bodie and Pedro De Oliveira, alongside violinist Aparna Halpé and the Toronto Tango Community Orchestra, with all music arranged by Elena Losseva.
Joining them for flamenco are acclaimed local musicians Ana Lía and Nicolas Hernandez, with flamenco dance by Kiyo Asaoka.
Don’t miss this exciting and unique performance! An Encounter Between Argentine Tango and Flamenco!
