Where Walls Meet Sky

Where Walls Meet Sky, a major, free, site-specific contemporary art exhibition curated by Rui Pimenta (Art Spin), opens August 22 and runs through September 13, 2026, at St. Anne’s Anglican Church. With 12 Canadian artists working across sculpture, installation, photography and multidisciplinary practices, the exhibition marks the first time the church will reopen to the public in its current state since the devastating fire that severely damaged the historic building in 2024.

The altered interior will be transformed into a place of reflection, gathering, and artistic exploration through works by Sacha Bassil, Sandra Brewster, Julia Campisi, John Dickson, Sofia Escobar, David Jensenius, Gareth Lichty, Eunice Luk, Roda Medhat, Noel Middleton, and Max Streicher.

The exhibition’s title reflects the building’s transformed condition: in this space without a roof, visitors encounter an unusual architectural experience in which the boundaries between interior and exterior have been disrupted. The visible sky creates a powerful metaphor for change, possibility, and the passage from one state into another.
