Parks Canada offers a variety of camping experiences, blending outdoor adventure with comfort. Their diverse accommodations cater to different preferences and group sizes, ensuring a unique stay in Canada’s natural landscapes.

If you are not a fan of roughing it out in the wilderness, Parks Canada offers a variety of comfortable stays, an upgrade from tent camping. These camping options range from yurts to uniquely shaped cabins.

 

While exact amenities vary depending on the location, the comfort camping options at Parks Canada locations (National Parks and Historic Sites) offer a variety of camping options, with each accommodation type blending the essence of outdoor living with varying levels of comfort and convenience.

Depending on the location, you may have to bring items, including bedding, pillows, and kitchen utensils.

Here is a quick look at the options available for the 2026 season, with the camping reservation opening dates:

oTENTiks:

The oTENTik, a hybrid of a tent and an A-frame cabin minimizes setup time and maximizes comfort. It can accommodate 5 to 6 people on 3 to 5 mattresses. These units are equipped with indoor tables, benches, or chairs, and various types of lighting. Additional amenities might include USB ports, heating options, outdoor furniture, cooking facilities, and fire pits.

Over 400 oTENTik units are available across 30 Canadian locations.

Yurts offer a unique experience, accommodating 4 to 5 people. These circular structures include heating, lighting, rustic furniture, and potentially kitchen shelters, barbecues, and picnic tables.

Cabins

Cabins provide a more secluded, rustic camping experience, suitable for 2 to 12 people. They feature basic amenities like washrooms or outhouses, and some might have additional facilities such as camp mattresses, food storage, cooking equipment, and fire pits.

Ôasis

The Ôasis is a teardrop-shaped duplex, ideal for families or couples. It offers a convertible table/bed for adults and a suspended hammock loft for children, with a total capacity of up to 160kg. Standard features include battery-powered lighting, with options for heating and fire pits.

MicrOcube

The MicrOcube offers a minimalist, designer approach to camping. It has an area of 10 sq. m and includes a double bed, table, chairs, and lighting, but no heating. Additional features, depending on the location, may include a deck, picnic table, and barbecue.

Tipis

Tipis provide an immersive cultural experience, sleeping 5 to 8 people. They come standard with a picnic table and may include unique features like a Fur Trade Camp Kit, rustic furniture, and a shared barbecue area. For an additional cost, a package with cots and a lantern is available.

Historic Accommodation

In addition to comfort camping, Parks Canada also offers stays at historic properties like the lockmaster’s house at Rideau Canal National Historic Site, Palisades Centre at the historic Palisades Ranch in Jasper National Park, chalets at La Mauricie National Park, a lighthouse at Mingan Archipelago National Park Reserve, a historic prison and guardhouse at Fortress of Louisbourg National Historic Site.
