Dec 21: Snowfall Warning Issued for Calgary and Southern Alberta

Environment Canada has issued a snowfall warning for Calgary and Southern Alberta on the first official day of winter.

The warning is in effect for most of Southern Alberta.

Environment Canada says in the warning, “Snowfall with total amounts of 10 to 20 cm is expected.”

 

“Snow, heavy at times is expected to start later this morning in the Rockies near the British Columbia border and move east towards the Saskatchewan border by the evening hours. Total snowfall amounts may exceed 20 cm in some areas.”

Kananaskis, Canmore, Okotoks and High River, Cardston, Fort Macleod, Magrath, Crowsnest Pass, Pincher Creek and Waterton Lakes National Park can expect up to 50 centimetres of snow.

The agency expects snowfall to taper off by late in the day on Tuesday.
