Fun Easter-themed Indoor Games For Kids

Easter is a time to make memories. With the advent of spring, Easter is also the time when we all look forward to spending time with family, going outdoors or taking part in Easter services. From the classic egg hunt to egg bowling, these fun creative indoor games will keep everyone festive.

Egg and Spoon Race

Every adult has played this at least once. Balance an egg on a spoon as you race to the finish line. Sounds easy, right? But as we all know, it isn’t as easy as it sounds. Play the game with your kids and see how much fun you will have.

Candy and Spoon Race

This game is similar to the egg and spoon race. Instead of egg, use candies or jelly beans or cereals. Place bowls of candy in front of each player. Each player should hold a spoon in his/her mouth. Each player should transfer the candy from the bowl to a cup.

Place the cup a bit further away to increase the difficulty of the game.

Egg and Hoop Game

Place 4 or 5 Hula Hoops on the floor in a line. The hoop placed the closest is 5 points and the farthest 20/25 (Or 10, 20,.. 50). Each player is given five eggs. Toss the eggs into the hoops and see who can get the maximum points.

Instead of hula hoops, you can also use paper plates, other kinds of place holders or even draw circles on the floor.

Egg Roll Race

Mark a straight race track using painters tape or chalk. Place the egg on the starting line and then roll the egg along the lane making sure to keep the egg within the lane. The first one to reach the finish line is the winner. Younger kids can use a spatula or stick to roll the egg.

To make the game more complicated for older kids and adults, get down on your knees and roll the eggs using your nose. Yes, that’s right. Nose!

Egg Bowl-a-thon

Who doesn’t love bowling? Egg bowlathon is bowling with a twist. Place a golden egg in the middle of your playing field. Give coloured eggs to the players. Each player should roll the egg down the field and try to hit the golden egg. Award points for each hit. The player with the maximum hit wins.

This fun game can keep everyone entertained for a long time.

Pin the Tail on the Bunny

This version of Pin the Tail is perfect for Easter! Not to mention great fun! Get a free printable version of the Bunny from Ella Claire.

Egg Hunt

You know how this game is played. But for a fun twist, place pieces of jigsaw puzzles inside the eggs. The puzzle for each kid should be placed in an assigned coloured/patterned egg. Hide the eggs. Let them hunt their assigned coloured/patterned egg to finish the puzzle. As always, the first one to finish the puzzle wins.

For a different version of the same game, place clues inside the eggs. Each egg should contain a clue that will lead you to the next one. For example, the clue in one can be ‘look in a shoe’, which could be pretty challenging especially if you have bazillion shoes in your home. As a bonus, you could keep bonus treats inside a few eggs.

Egg/Carrot Toss

A fun game to play for both the young and the old. Try tossing plastic eggs or carrots to an Easter basket. Can you get all your eggs in one basket? Increase the distance between players and the basket depending on the age of the players.

In another version of the game, fill an egg with candies. let the kids face each other. One of them should toss the egg to the other. The other should catch the egg without dropping or breaking the egg. After each successful catch, take a step back to widen the distance between the kids.

Bunnies and The Fox

You will need a couple of players to play this game. One player can be the Fox and others are Bunnies. Before the game starts, each bunny must select a colour and keep it a secret from the fox. They should also mark an area as ‘bunny basket’ where the bunnies are safe from the fox. The Bunnies should hide and when the fox finds them, he should guess the colour of the bunny – one colour at a time. When the fox guesses correctly, the bunnies should start running to the bunny basket. The Bunny is safe if he makes it to the basket. The bunny should then select a new colour. If the fox catches the bunny before he or she can make it to the basket, the player becomes the new fox.

Catch the Egg Game

You will need a plastic cup, a string and a plastic egg. Tie one end of the string to the egg and the other to the plastic cup. Hold the cup in one hand and swing the egg up and try to catch it in the cup.

Make the string shorter or longer to make it easier or harder to catch.

Sack Race

A classic race, but still hopping fun!

Egg-sercises

This game is perfect to burn off excess energy. And the perfect time to play this is just before dinner to work up an appetite. Make chits with different activities like somersault, hop and jump, large leaps, marching, big step, high jump, roll, ninja kick, and so on. Place a chit in each egg. Let the kids take turns opening the eggs and do the activities.

I Spy Game

An Easter themed I spy game can be great fun for younger kids. Candies, eggs, bunnies, let them see how many of them they can spot in your house!

Funny Bunny Faces Game

A fun way to pass time especially if your kids love drawing. This game by Tammy from ‘Housing A Forest‘ is sure to be a great hit with kids!
