The Emerald Sky Dome, now open and taking reservations, offers a six-course private Chef’s Blind Tasting Menu led by Chef Valerie Morrison, who is marking her 30th year guiding the lodge’s kitchen. The clear-walled dome sits on the Kicking Horse Patio, glowing against the winter backdrop and framed by evergreens and open views of the night sky.

What to expect

  • Guests start their evening with a drink in the Kicking Horse Lounge before being guided to the glowing, clear-walled Emerald Sky Dome, which seats two to six people and offers uninterrupted winter views from its patio perch surrounded by evergreens and mountain sky.
  • The experience centres on a private six-course Chef’s Blind Tasting Menu created by Chef Valerie Morrison, marking her 30 years leading the lodge’s kitchen, with each course designed to echo the lodge’s culinary roots while showcasing refined plating and modern Rocky Mountain flavours.
  • Inside the dome, visitors gather around a custom table built by a local woodworker, complemented by Canadian-made décor, alpine greenery, and soft lighting that turns the space into a quiet retreat meant for slow dining, long conversations, and a sense of shared connection.

Only one reservation is accepted per night, allowing guests to enjoy the two- to three-hour experience without interruption.

The six-course offering is priced at $185 per person, before tax and gratuity. Optional beverage pairings are available, including wine, cocktails, or non-alcoholic selections.

The Emerald Sky Dome operates Tuesday through Saturday, from December 2 until early spring, with reservations available exclusively through OpenTable.

Emerald Lake Lodge, located on a secluded peninsula in Yoho National Park, features 85 cabin-style rooms with wood-burning fireplaces and lake views. The property, originally built in 1902, is known for its quiet setting and its Mount Burgess Dining Room, which highlights locally inspired Rocky Mountain cuisine.
