Killam Scarecrow Festival
How? These harvest or fall season festivals in Alberta all have their way of making the most of the end of summer, and can each be a fun way for all ages to enjoy it all: the harvesting, the pumpkins, the cozy bonfires, and the changing colours in the countryside.
One of the most exciting, and sometimes challenging, ways to enjoy the fall harvest is by tackling a corn maze with friends and family; luckily these corn mazes are a common feature among the harvest celebrations.
Other fall fun you might encounter could include carnival or lawn games, u-pick pumpkins, wagon or hay rides, farmers’ markets, parades, or show and shine events.
Oktoberfests
The Fall season brings Oktoberfests, and you can sample a wide variety of local brews. Oktoberfest events look slightly different depending on where you party in Alberta, with some being 18+ only, some family-friendly, and some featuring a rodeo/Oktoberfest combo, while others are free to attend.

Glendon Pyrogy Festival
The village of Glendon, known as the Pyrogy Capital of the World, will host its annual Pyrogy Festival at Pyrogy Park, home to a 6,000 lbs pyrogy sculpture. The event, celebrating the community’s Ukrainian heritage, runs from 1 to 4 p.m. and offers activities such as a pyrogy eating contest and performances by local groups, including the Glendon Shevchenko Ukrainian Dance Club.

South Peace Centennial Museum Harvest Festival
The South Peace Centennial Museum has a ton of interesting and cool Alberta heritage to learn about, including a large collection of antique farm, rail, and road vehicles. Great White North Pumpkin Fair
Visit Smoky Lake for the Great White North Pumpkin Fair, stop by the giant pumpkin sculptures, and challenge your friends and family to the corn maze. Fall is a beautiful time to visit the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village, and Harvest of the Past gives you even more reason to visit before they close for the season. The event features a live traditional harvest to showcase Alberta’s agricultural heritage and vintage farm equipment. Smaller activities to try include flower and herb drying, feather stripping, wheat grinding, quilting, and making kaputsa (sour cabbage). Details

Fall-O-Ween & Haunted Pumpkin Festivals turn harvest season into a full day of autumn fun.
