Fun Things to Do with Kids in Sylvan Lake

Sylvan Lake, Alberta, is a lovely town situated on a lake of the same name. As expected, there are plenty of water activities at Sylvan Lake to enjoy. What you may not realize is how many non-water related activities are out there as well. If you have kids while in Sylvan Lake be sure to check out some of the activities this town has to offer like go-karting and mini golfing at Lakeside Go-Karts and Mini Golf or paintballing at Sylvan Lake Paintball.

 

Sylvan Lake Aqua Splash

With Alberta’s incredibly short summer season, it is imperative that you take advantage of the sun while you can. Sylvan Lake is one of the nicest lakes in all of Alberta, and as such, it is best to enjoy the water at Sylvan as much as you can. That’s where Sylvan Lake Aqua Splash comes in. Camp near the Lake

Enjoy a weekend of camping at Jarvis Bay Provincial Park bordering the lake. There is no direct access to Sylvan Lake from Jarvis Bay Provincial Park. Enjoy hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing here.

Lakeside Go-Karts and Mini Golf

Another great place for kids to enjoy the sun is Lakeside Go-Karts & Mini Golf. Maybe you’ve had enough of the water, or maybe it’s one of those not-so-nice summer days, whatever your reasoning, you and your kids will have a blast at Lakeside. WIth 18 holes of mini golf as well as an amazing go kart track, Lakeside Go-Karts and Mini Golf will have all who attend competing for top bragging rights and laughing the whole way!

Skateboards, scooters, BMX bikes, and inline skates are all welcome at Incline Industries Indoor Skate & BMX Park. Open year round, this indoor skate park is the perfect place for kids to hang out and try the latest tricks in a safe and fun environment.

Sylvan Lake Paintball

Splat Masters is what they call the kids (ages 5-10) paintball at Sylvan Lake Paintball. Shoot your way to ultimate bragging rights and ultimate fun. Sylvan Lake Paintball is the longest running paintball course in central Alberta, with safety being top priority and fun being a close second.

1913 Days is Sylvan Lake’s annual birthday celebration. As with any great celebration there is always plenty of food and entertainment. Street performers, food trucks, buskers, face painting, circus activities, and plenty of inflatables guarantee this event to be a fantastic one, rain or shine.

There’s something special about picking your own fruits and vegetables. Going to a U-Pick farm is a fantastic family activity. Not only is it fun, but it is a great way to learn about where your food comes from and how it grows. Hidden Valley Garden is an awesome U-Pick farm with an array of fruits and vegetables available to pick and purchase.

Centennial Park

Wide open spaces should be a birthright of every Canadian child. Living in one of the largest yet least populated countries in the world does come with some advantages. One of which is the amount of open park and areas to play in. Centennial Park is a large Municipal Park located right on the shores of Sylvan Lake. At Centennial Park you will find large green spaces perfect for a game of frisbee or tag. There are also plenty of picnic tables for a mid-day meal, as well as a children’s playground. Kids of all ages can come to Centennial Park and have a great time.
