Winter Activities in Sylvan Lake, Alberta

During winter, Mother Nature transforms Sylvan Lake into an outdoor all ages winter activity centre, making Sylvan Lake, A Town for all Seasons.

 

Here are the few suggestions for things to do during winter in Sylvan Lake, Alberta

1. Ice skating & Skiing

Enjoy Skating & skiing on the Sylvan Lake – Sylvan Lake has two large skating rinks set up for ice skating.


2. Snowmobiling

Try the unique and rewarding experience of snowmobiling on the frozen lake. Snowmobiling is permitted only at the Sylvan lake and not anywhere else.

You may like to Experience the scenic lake in a heated pod tour. Ice fish in style in a fully stocked Ice Hut and more with Cool Toyz ATV Rental and Guided lake tours.


3. Ice Fishing

Be an ice angler and get ready for ice fishing (Open: Dec 11 – Mar 31) on Sylvan lake – one of the best ice fishing locations in Alberta. See Regulations here


4. Incline Industries Indoor Skate & BMX Park

Skateboard, BMX, and scooter indoors in winter. More about the park.


5. Aquatic Centre

Don’t let the fact that it is freezing outside stop you from a relaxing swim at the Sylvan Lake Aquatic centre.


6. Spirit of Sylvan Yuletide Festival

 
Light up the Lake Christmas Celebrations – Welcome the season with Market, kids zone, entertainment, Christmas firew0rks, carols & more! Details

7. Sylvan Lake Santa Claus Parade & Christmas Fireworks

Parade: Saturday, November 30, 2019 | 05:00 PM – Details

Christmas Fireworks : 06:15 PM

Where?

Join us along 47 Avenue, 50 Street and Lakeshore Drive for the annual Santa Clause Parade.
Christmas Fireworks: Downtown with fireworks setup on the Pier.

8. 2020 New Year’s Day Fireworks

When ?

January 1, 2020 at 7:00 PM – 07:30 PM – Details.

9. Sylvan Lake Winterfest 2020

A celebration of snow and ice which features the showcase event Polar Bear Dip, where people can jump into a freezing cold lake for a charity of their choice.The Family Day weekend offers fun for the whole family at Winterfest. Come on down to the lake and enjoy a day of outdoor activities and stay for the fireworks.– Details

10. Polar Bear Dip
