A 2006.5-pound giant pumpkin at the Woodbridge Fair has set the Canadian record for the heaviest pumpkin.
Winners of the $2,000 Giant Pumpkin & Vegetable Contest cash award at the Woodbridge Fair, the father-daughter duo, Jim and Kelsey Bryson from Ormstown, Quebec are no strangers to growing and winning accolades for giant gourds.
Their 1,777.5-pound pumpkin topped the leaderboard at the 2021 Port Elgin Pumpkinfest.
The Brysons also held the Guinness World Record for the heaviest pumpkin for a short duration. That gourd weighed 824.86 kg (1,818 lb 5 oz) at Prince Edward County Pumpkinfest, Wellington in 2011.
The current Guinness World Record for the heaviest pumpkin is held by Mathias Willemijns of Belgium and it weighed 1,190.49 kg (2,624.6 lb).
