Grassi Lakes Trails, Ha Ling Trail, Grassi Lakes and Goat Creek Parking Lot to Be Closed Until the End of 2022 Effective April 1

Alberta Parks is closing Grassi Lakes parking lot, Goat Creek parking lot, trails and climbing areas as part of upgrading Grassi Lakes and Goat Creek day-use areas.

Revenue from Kananaskis Conservation Pass will be used for the upgrades, the Alberta government announced today.

Upgrades will include:

  • expansion and formalization of the Grassi Lakes main parking lot
  • expansion and formalization of the main Goat Creek parking lot
  • refurbishment of portions of the Grassi Lakes trail
  • formalizatione the Grassi Lakes overflow parking lot
  • road crossing and trail connection between the overflow and main lots
  • separation and washroom facilities between the climber’s lot and the Smith Dorrien Trail
  • replacement two bridges on Goat Creek trail

As a result of the planned upgrades, Alberta Parks will be closing the area encompassing the Grassi Lakes Day Use Area and Goat Creek Day Use Area from the beginning of April until the end of the year.

  • Grassi Lakes Main Parking Lot
  • Grassi Lakes Overflow Lot
  • Grassi Lakes Climber’s Lot (adjacent to Whiteman’s Pond)
  • Goat Creek Parking Lot

Trail Closures:

  • Grassi Lakes Trail – Interpretive and Upper Trails
  • Junkyard Trail
  • Ha Ling Trail
  • Miner’s Peak Trail
  • Goat Creek Trail
  • East End of Rundle Route (EEOR)
  • Reclaimer Mountain Bike Trail
  • Riders of Rohan Mountain Bike Trail
  • Access to High Rockies Trail from Goat Creek (through access on High Rockies will not be affected)

Climbing Area Closures:

  • Grassi Lakes Climbing Area
  • Ha Ling Climbing Area
  • East End of Rundle (EEOR) Climbing Area
