July 17th, 2022, is National Ice Cream Day! Celebrate the cool day with Edmonton’s local ice cream shops, trucks, and vendors.

There are a couple of new ice cream shops new to Edmonton this summer, so you can celebrate Ice Cream Day along with a grand opening or two. And these shops aren’t just focused on your basic cone and cups. You can find unique flavours, cakes and sandwiches, milkshakes, or even a beer float.

There are several fun and tasty ways to treat yourself, friends, family, or coworkers, for National Ice Cream Day in Edmonton!

Twice Cream

 

Celebrate Ice Cream Day at the newest ice cream shop in Edmonton. Twice’s gourmet selection of classic flavours is coupled with their rotating menu. This summer, enjoy a Vegan Banana Honeycomb, Candied Fennel Passionfruit, or Maple Salted Butternut. Details

80 Flavours Premium Ice Cream

With five convenient locations around Edmonton, 80 Flavours Premium Ice Cream is an easy choice for many on National Ice Cream Day- or any day this summer and fall. The easy-to-spot blue trailer has their 80 ice cream flavours from which to choose, but also options like frozen yogurt or sorbet. Flavours include a number of combinations of fruit, chocolates, other desserts, and more. Details

Kind Ice Cream

Be kind to yourself on National Ice Cream Day. Do so by treating yourself to central Edmonton’s Kind Ice Cream and their list of small batch flavours. Each season, Kind will feature rotating flavours, with this summers’ as the Ice Cream Truck Series. The Series offers up Kind’s take on a drumstick, orange creamsicle, or cherry slush sorbet. Yelo’d Ice Cream and Bakeshop

In addition to serving delicious ice cream, Yelo’d offers a Filipino and Asian take on the dessert. The true ma and pop shop serves unique flavours like their signature ube (purple yam), or luxe varieties like Filipino Rocky Road, Match with mixed berries, or black sesame with caramel chow mien. Groove at Fleisch

Are you a hard or soft-serve ice cream sort of person? For National Ice Cream Day, give Groove’s soft-serve a whirl, a small menu of seasonal small-batch flavours. Scoop n’ Roll Creamery

The local Scoop n’ Roll ice cream trucks can be found in several Edmonton locations and boast the title of being the first shop of its kind in Canada. The treat is a Thai dessert that uses a frozen pan to mix liquid ice cream with your choice of fresh toppings; it is all then laid out flat on the pan and rolled into convenient loaf shapes and served in a cup. The flavours offer yummy combinations of fruits, nuts, sweet sauces like chocolate and caramel, or candies, and even cereal. Details

Venture down the alley sidewalk beside 104th Street to find what is likely a lineup to Made by Marcus. Blaster’s Ice Creams & Cakes

The local Millwoods Blaster’s is a lot more than ice cream and cakes, although they have mastered those two desserts. They offer a full café menu of drinks, sundaes, milkshakes, soft serve, and incredible custom ice cream cakes (prefect for treating a large group on National Ice Cream Day). Details

La Carraia Gelateria Cafe

So, La Carraia do not actually sell ice cream, but its Italian cousin: gelato! The ingredients are close, but the preparation of each dessert is where the differences lay. Gelato will have a lighter and fluffier texture, as a result, but is still a delicious way to cool off. And you can try La Carraia’s gelato in 24 different flavours! Details
