For one weekend in June, customers visiting IKEA stores across Canada will be able to try a free meatball-flavoured lollipop. The limited tasting is happening June 13 and 14, with about 40,000 lollipops being distributed nationwide while supplies last.
The lollipop was created through a collaboration with Chupa Chups and is meant to offer a playful take on the IKEA meatball, a food closely tied to the brand’s Swedish roots. IKEA Canada says the candy is for tasting only and will not be sold.
Rob Kelly, chief commercial officer at IKEA Canada, said the goal is to create memorable in-store experiences for customers. He described the meatball-flavoured lollipop as a fun and unexpected way to bring a taste of Sweden to Canadians.
The tasting is part of a larger in-store weekend. On June 13 and 14, IKEA Family members can take part in a spin-to-win activation for a chance to taste the lollipop and win prizes, including gift cards.
There is also a one-day breakfast offer on June 13. IKEA Family members can get a $1 breakfast and receive a $50 coupon to use in-store the same day with a minimum purchase of $199.
The event also overlaps with IKEA Canada’s summer sale. From June 11 to 14, customers can get 20 per cent off select serve ware and glassware.
The meatball-flavoured lollipop is not an IKEA product, but a limited collaboration with Chupa Chups. Customers can learn more through IKEA Canada’s website.
