Toronto’s waterfront concert venue, long known as Budweiser Stage, will operate as RBC Amphitheatre under a new multi-year partnership between Live Nation Canada and RBC.
The announcement marks the beginning of a significant redevelopment that will turn the venue into a year-round music and entertainment space by 2030.
Live Nation President and CEO Michael Rapino said the project will enhance Toronto’s global entertainment profile, while RBC CEO Dave McKay emphasized its economic impact, including job creation and increased tourism. The revamped venue is expected to host over 1.5 million fans annually, up from its current seasonal capacity.
Key redevelopment plans include:
- The venue will close in fall 2027, reopen in summer 2029 for outdoor shows, and reach full year-round operation by summer 2030.
- The upgraded design will feature a larger summer layout with both seated and open-lawn areas, and about 9,000 indoor seats for winter performances.
- A new pedestrian bridge will enhance crowd movement and connectivity to surrounding public spaces.
- More food and beverage outlets, hospitality zones, and a lookout deck with elevator access will be added.
- The open-lawn seating and city skyline views, key elements of the venue’s identity, will remain.
- The redevelopment will follow the Toronto Green Standard and Live Nation’s Green Nation sustainability guidelines.
- Existing signage will remain through the 2026 season, and plans for hosting shows during the closure will be announced later.
The transformation, funded through private investment, is expected to generate hundreds of new jobs and contribute to the growth of Canada’s $11 billion live music industry, which supports over 100,000 workers nationwide.
