Longo’s is marking its 70th anniversary in 2026 with celebrations across its 43 stores in Ontario.
The grocery retailer, formerly Longo Brothers Fruit Markets, will hold anniversary events from May 28 to 31. The main in-store celebrations are scheduled for Saturday, May 30, beginning at 10 a.m. Ceremonial cake cuttings and commemorative photo moments are set to begin at 11 a.m., with activities continuing until 4 p.m.
The milestone looks back to 1956, when brothers Tommy, Joe and Gus Longo opened their first neighbourhood fruit market. The company says its founding standard was to serve customers, referred to by Longo’s as Guests, only food that they would serve their own families.
Anthony Longo, Executive Chair of Longo’s, said he is grateful for the foundation laid by the founders and proud of the work done by the Longo’s team over the past 70 years. He also quoted his father’s view that “quality, service and value never go out of style.”
As part of the anniversary week, Longo’s is offering a special 70th anniversary flyer with multi-department savings and weekend-exclusive offers.
The company is also preparing to expand. A new store will open June 24, 2026, at 968 Niagara Street in Welland, Longo’s first location in that region and its furthest from the Support Centre in Vaughan.
Another store is planned for Fall 2026 at 1700 King Road in King City. That location will become Longo’s 45th store. Both new stores will include a Loft Cooking School and a Starbucks.
