A major update is on the way for one of Canada’s most recognizable lotteries, with changes set to take effect this month.
The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation confirms LOTTO MAX will roll out a new format beginning with the April 14, 2026 draw. The update focuses on larger jackpots and expanding the number of prizes available in each draw.
What is changing
- Higher jackpot ceiling: The maximum LOTTO MAX jackpot increases to $90 million, up from $80 million, marking the highest level ever seen in a Canadian lottery.
- New $100,000 prize tier: Each draw will now include additional $100,000 prizes tied to the jackpot size. For example, a $10 million jackpot brings 10 extra prizes, while a $90 million jackpot brings up to 90.
- More chances to win: Every ticket will now include four selections of seven numbers, which is expected to improve the overall odds of winning any prize.
- Ticket price: The cost of a ticket will increase from $5 to $6. This is the first price change since the game launched in 2009.
These updates keep the MAXMILLIONS structure in place, introduce additional prize opportunities, and take effect with the new $6 ticket starting Tuesday, April 14, 2026.
