Turkey Point Provincial Park is on the north end of the Inner Long Point Bay. These quieter Lake Erie shoreline areas around Long Point Bay create the perfect setting for a summer getaway or a vacation in the cooler spring and fall months.
One of the biggest draws for this park in the summers is the beach. Not only is the Turkey Point beach long and expansive or soft and sandy, but it is also in a calm spot on the lake with shallow shores and warmer waters.
Hiking the Bluffs & Forests
- The 2.2km looping Lookout Bluff trail brings hikers from the park office to a bluff overlooking Lake Erie’s Long Point Bay.
- The Oak Savanna Trail is another shorter option in the park, while the Fin & Feather Trail leads to a 4km out-and-back hike.
Turkey Point Beach & Other Water Activities
There are three main access points for Turkey Point Beach, which are located outside of the park by about 3km and within the village of Turkey Point. The beach stretches for 2km south of the park and village. And from the adjacent community, beach-goers get options for dining, drinks, or picnic foods.
- At the south end of Turkey Point is the Marina, which is a great place for anglers and boaters to cast off and fish for bass or perch. This is where boaters may also pay to dock or launch onto Lake Erie.
- For those without watercraft, there are nearby rental shops that can help! Inquire AquaWave or Waveline Recreation about a variety of rental options.
Camping at Turkey Point Provincial Park
The park offers a large campground for single units as well as a group campground. The single-unit campsites offer a mix of unserviced and those with electrical hook-up (15 or 30amp). These pretty and secluded-feeling campsites offer plenty of shade with the large trees and great camping amenities. The campground has comfort stations with showers and flush toilets, more vault toilets, and water taps.
Summer Programming at Turkey Point
Turkey Point Provincial Park hosts a variety of summer programs and events for all ages. These include the kids’ Discovery Program with different nature themes each day or the Camping Stars Children’s Program. The summers at Turkey Point are also fully scheduled with guided or mindfulness hikes.
