McDonald’s Canada Locks in $5 McValue Meals and $1 Coffee for One Year

McDonald’s Canada has announced a one-year price commitment on select menu items, locking in $5 McValue meals and $1 small McCafé coffee across the country.

The announcement marks the first time in more than 10 years that the company has publicly committed to a year-long price lock. The move comes as affordability remains a growing concern, with three in five Canadians citing the cost of living as their top issue for 2026, according to an Angus Reid online survey conducted between Nov. 26 and Dec. 1, 2025.

The price promise applies year-round, without limited-time conditions or minimum purchase requirements, and covers the same items and portion sizes currently offered. McDonald’s says the meals will be available at all 1,500 locations nationwide for dine-in and drive-thru orders. Delivery is excluded, and prices are listed before tax.

The $1 coffee price was first introduced in July 2024, alongside an average 30 per cent price reduction on other coffee sizes.

Newly appointed President and CEO Annemarie Swijtink said the commitment reflects long-standing practices, noting that 90 per cent of McDonald’s Canada restaurants are owned by local franchisees and more than 80 per cent of food and paper purchased last year came from Canadian suppliers.
