A list of things to do in February to celebrate Montréal’s 375th anniversary.

Applaud as world snowmobiling champions perform jaw-dropping aerial tricks in downtown Montréal, go on a snow moon by bike ride with your Valentine, try curling against brilliant backdrop of a light and sound performance, and experience avant-garde creativity during Illuminart!

 

1. Igloofest

Each winter, going on 11 years this winter, Igloofest brings together thousands of electronic music fans to dance under the stars at Montreal’s Old Port. Bringing together icy decor and steel structures, powerful architectural projections, programs featuring the best local and international DJs, its giant playground and its one-of-a-kind winterwear competition named “Iglooswag”. For the 375th Hivernales celebrations, Igloofest will be adding some special free winter activities as well as two extra weekends of wild, woolly competition and Off-Igloofest nights. Details

2. Fête des neiges de Montréal

Come out to play and discover great new family activities at Parc Jean-Drapeau during the Montreal 375th anniversary celebrations. This popular family-oriented winter event has a program geared toward enjoying the outdoors, with a wide array of free and paid activities. For Montreal’s 375th anniversary, Parc Jean-Drapeau reinvented the Montreal Fête des Neiges with more than 20 activities designed to please every taste. We’ve got slides of all shapes and sizes, a new ice-sculpted Pirate ship, lively animation, good old-fashioned snow tubing, the Tyrolienne, the Ferris Wheel, dog sled rides, skating, and live shows for the whole family. 3. MTL375 Rosemont Petite-Patrie

Explore more than one hundred works executed in various mediums during the pop up events held at in several locations in Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie borough. Artgang Galerie plans to co-produce and distribute at least 375 public art works in the borough’s territory. Details

4. Cité Mémoire

Projected throughout Old Montreal, loosely inspired by the history of Montreal, Cité Mémoire invites you to meet a host of characters who’ve witnessed the city’s evolution first-hand. Poetic, dreamlike and occasionally playful, the tableaux come alive with images, words and music. A creation by Michel Lemieux and Victor Pilon, in collaboration with Michel Marc Bouchard, the tableaux presented in Cité Mémoire cover a range of milestones in Montréal’s history, well-known (or not so well-known) characters, or sometimes a local slice of life. Narrative or impressionist, touching or amusing, they express our values of coexistence, innovation, tolerance and generosity that are the foundation of our city.Details

5. Aime comme Montréal

This exhibit presents thirty of the couples included in that photo essay. In different seasons and neighbourhoods, you will meet a few of the families that make up Montreal’s celebrated diversity. Video stations provide a more in-depth encounter with some of these couples. Let yourself be inspired by these adventurous love stories and thoughts about immigration and being open to differences. The concept of harmonious diversity in communities has grown in relevance. An issue in intercultural cities like Montreal, it raises many questions. Can intercultural couples who experience diversity in their daily lives provide us with some answers? Details

6. Illumination of Biosphere

To celebrate its 375th anniversary, Montréal Lights Up with the illumination of the Biosphere. The illumination commemorates Montréals 375th anniversary, Canada’s 150th and Expo67’s 50th. The lighting company 4U2C, under the artistic direction of Yves Aucoin, lights up the structure that emphasizes its striking architectural qualities and complements its existing lighting.

World snowmobiling champions perform jaw-dropping aerial tricks in downtown Montréal for the first time ever. The events will feature 10 of the best riders in the world. They”ll be wowing crowds with their phenomenal tricks and total fearlessness on a course that includes two ramps designed exclusively for the occasion. Soaring more than 10 metres in the air, these consummate athletes will cover a distance of come 25 metres, and their most daring and dangerous stunts, including the famous back flip, promises to leave hearts pounding. 9. Feu, feu, joli feu, un karaoké des bois

Friends of Marcelle-Ferron, are organizing three song-filled evenings around the campfire exploring the themes of land, nature, and origins. 10. Snow Moon by bike

What could be more magical than cycling through the heart of a moonlit city? As part of the Montreal 375th Anniversary Hivernales celebrations, cycling and winter enthusiasts are invited to take part in a luminescent parade of bikes along a 3.75-km route.
