Per the news release, this action was taken following a consumer complaint, although no illnesses related to the consumption of these mushrooms have been reported so far.

Consumers possessing the recalled Enoki Mushrooms are urged not to consume, sell, serve, or distribute them. They should either dispose of them or return them to their place of purchase. Despite the potential lack of visible spoilage or odour, Listeria monocytogenes can cause serious health issues.

Symptoms of infection include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache, and neck stiffness. The infection poses a significant risk to pregnant women, the elderly, and individuals with weakened immune systems, potentially leading to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth. In extreme cases, the infection can be fatal.

Individuals who believe they may have fallen ill from consuming the recalled product are advised to contact their healthcare provider.
