New Ottawa Concert Venue HISTORY Announces Opening Lineup; Tickets on Sale March 27

A new chapter for Ottawa’s live music scene is taking shape, with HISTORY Ottawa set to open this August in the ByWard Market.

The 2,000-capacity venue has now shared its first wave of shows, offering an early glimpse of what audiences can expect. The initial lineup includes acts like The Pretty Reckless, Sabaton, Two Door Cinema Club, TALK, and more, with additional announcements promised in the coming months.

The opening schedule starts strong. The Wallflowers will take the stage on August 20, followed by KALEO on September 9. Other dates stretch into the fall and early winter, including Marianas Trench on October 24 and Wolf Parade on December 11. Tickets for all announced shows go on sale March 27 at 10 a.m:

Behind the scenes, Bronwyn Campbell has been appointed General Manager. She brings 18 years of experience in venue management, including 11 years leading operations at Vancouver’s Commodore Ballroom. Campbell says her focus will be on building a space that both artists and fans want to return to.

Rob Feller joins as Senior Operations Manager, bringing more than 12 years in the live music industry. His background also includes time at the Commodore Ballroom, where he managed box office operations and premium services.

The venue, located at 47 Rideau Street, is an expansion of the Toronto-based HISTORY, which launched in 2021 with involvement from Drake. Operated by Live Nation Canada under an agreement with the National Capital Commission, the space is being built inside a former Chapters bookstore and is currently under renovation.

Once complete, the site will include 3,805 square metres above ground and 2,230 square metres of basement space, designed for concerts, community events, and more. Organizers say it is expected to draw large crowds and contribute to renewed activity in Ottawa’s downtown core.
