Night It Up!, the longest-running night market in the GTA kicks off on August 5th, 7 p.m after a two-year pandemic-induced hiatus.
The famous night market is renowned for supporting local charities and is organized by Power Unit Youth Organization – a registered non-profit and youth-led organization.
If you are heading to Markham for the the extremely popular festival which usually brings over 130,000 visitors, this is what to expect:
The festival is a recreation of night markets from Taiwan, Hong Kong and across Asia and you can expect Asian street foods from a variety of vendors.
They include:
Chatime, Lert, Nam Wan, Ban Is Lite, Chick-In TFC, Mama Bear, Chun Wing Trading, FuwaFuwa Japanese Pancake, Ku Taiwanese Flavour, Noi Oyster (Stratford Thai), BBQ beef, K Pop Food, Meat On a Stick, M Cha Bar, Squid, Tornado Fries, Mi Bowl Group Inc., Vitasoy, Happy Twist, Tropic love concessions, The Relish of Chengdu. Warung Nampung, One Dog by Petit Potato, Zao Men Kan, Eggette Hut, Thai Iced Tea, Juicy Meat Skewers, Mochi French Toast, Tamagoyaki, Thumbs Up, Hangouts, Biu—Boom the BIG BIG Squid, Woolles and Cream, Mochi doh donuts, Tropicoco, Jetlydrops Bakery, Lanny Cuisine among others.
You can also find trade booths like those from Costco, Metrolinx, TD Bank and other civic organisations like Elections Markham.
In addition, the festival boasts a great stage line-up highlighting local talents.
The festival begins with an opening ceremony at 7 p.m on Friday.
Leona, Ms T., Vicki Lovelee, Prompt Dance, Jimmy Hsu and Tim Vox Club at Tone Labs Music, Sandpaper Meadows Sweet and Sour, ABF (April’s Band Friends) will take to the stage on Friday.
Sweet and Sour, Adrian Chung, bobaboyy95, Samuel Solomon Cha Chaan Teng, IXIV, Deja Vu, Rose Cora Perry and The Truth Untold, Richard Zhang, G.I.A. dance crew, Valerie, 6roses, Laniakea, Corsh Music, Sine Direction and TLM Band, Cherie, Sophie Chong, and Audreane will entertain the crowds on Saturday.
Sunday will see performances by The Singing School Students, Erica Jane, VYbE Dance Company, Tone Labs Music Academy Students, The FuZe, JETT, Chantal , R.P.M Dance Crew, Yamrnie, and Your Honor.
Though some vendors may accept credit/debit cards, remember to take cash to buy food, but if you run out of money, there are ATMs on site. All proceeds from this year’s festival will be donated to ALS Double Play, a charitable organization that strives to raise awareness and connect people who live with ALS.
The festival runs from August 5 to 7 and hours are 7 p.m. to midnight on Friday, 2 p.m. to midnight on Saturday and 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sunday.
The event is held at 179 Enterprise Blvd, Markham – East Parking Lot.
Parking is available at 10 Aviva Way, Markham.
Remember to follow the signs and directions if you are dropping off or picking up people at the venue.
