Lower electricity prices for households and small businesses under the Regulated Price Plan went into effect today.
The new rates which began today will see Ontario Electricity Rebate, a pre-tax credit, changed to 11.7%. Ontario Energy Board sets the RPP prices every November 1 and says it is based on the forecast of how much it will cost to supply RPP customers with the electricity they are expected to use over the next 12 months.

OEB
OEB says for a typical residential customer who uses 700 kWh of electricity per month, the Ontario Electricity Rebate, would decrease bills by about $13.91 each month.
The winter Time-of-Use (TOU) hours and the change in the threshold for residential customers on Tiered pricing also went into effect today.
Ontario electricity customers can choose between TOU rates and Tiered prices.
The electricity bill for customers who opt for TOU rates will depend on when customers use electricity.
There are three TOU periods – on-peak (Weekdays 7 a.m. – 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. – 7 p.m.), mid-peak (Weekdays 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.) and off-peak (Weekdays 7 p.m. – 7 a.m., all day weekends and holidays). Prices are highest during on-peak, lower during mid-peak and lowest during off-peak.

OEB
The new rates for TOU customers are 7.4 ¢/kWh off-peak, 10.2 ¢/kWh mid-peak and 15.1 ¢/kWh on-peak.
During winter, a residential customer who opts for Tiered pricing can use a 1,000 kWh at a lower rate of 8.7 ¢ each month. Once this limit is exceeded, the rate goes up to 10.3 ¢. The Tier threshold for non-residential customers is 750 kWh at the rate of 8.7 ¢.
The winter Time-of-Use hours and the change in the Tier threshold for residential customers on Tiered pricing will remain in place until April 30, 2023
