The Nova Scotia government recently launched a new initiative to help businesses label their products as locally made.
Through the Nova Scotia Loyal Producer Labelling Pilot Program, businesses can apply for a rebate covering 70% of eligible costs associated with adding the Nova Scotia Loyal logo to their packaging, up to a maximum of $3,000 per business.
The program covers expenses such as graphic design, label production, and packaging updates. The total budget for the initiative is $300,000.
Additional Nova Scotia Loyal efforts include:
- Distributing information to households on where to find Nova Scotia-made products.
- Expanding a searchable online database of local producers.
- Installing Nova Scotia Loyal signs in NSLC stores and providing merchandising support to retailers.
- Offering loyalty rewards through Scene+ at Sobeys and Air Miles at NSLC for over 2,000 local products.
- Providing 10% cash incentives for online farmers’ market purchases.
- Implementing school vouchers through Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia.
