Stan Rogers Folk Festival

The 26th edition of Stanfest will officially start on Friday, July 21, and run until Sunday, July 23 in Canso, Nova Scotia, honouring Stan Rogers’ legacy by celebrating songwriters. The festival will offer a diverse range of musical genres and styles.

Alan Doyle and The Beautiful, Beautiful Band will be performing in on Thursday, July 20 at 7 pm. This will be their only summer appearance in Nova Scotia. Joining them will be special guests, Quote the Raven and Rum Ragged.

Alan Doyle is most famous as the lead singer for Newfoundland’s Great Big Sea, a band that blended traditional Newfoundland music with pop elements for over two decades. With five solo albums under his belt, Doyle continues to tour worldwide with his talented six-piece band, a feat he has achieved for the last decade.

This year, the festival will welcome back festival alumni, such as Dave Gunning, Bruce Guthro, and J.P. Cormier. Atlantic Canadian performers like Matthew Byrne, Tara MacLean, DeeDee Austin, Morgan Toney, Joe H Henry, Andru Branch & Halfway Tree, Carleton Stone, Lisa Richard, Silver Wolf Band and The Irish Descendants.

The legendary American folk and pop music group Kingston Trio will headline the weekend by performing on Sunday night.

The Stan Rogers Folk Festival honours one of Canada’s most prolific songwriters, Stan Rogers. The weekend-long musical adventure features an array of genres, including folk, country, blues, soul, gospel, pop, rock, bluegrass, and world music.
