1. Rutherford House Remembers

After the Great War, people around the world honoured the brave men and women who fought for them on Armistice Day, now renamed Remembrance Day. Join us as we reflect on their bravery and sacrifice through letters, poetry, and song. Try some of the foods eaten by Canadians at home and at the Front.

A joint collaboration between several branches of the Royal Canadian Legion in & around the City of Edmonton with the Cosmopolitan Music Society.

3. In Fields of Honour

The University of Alberta Symphonic Winds Ensemble and the Royal Canadian Artillery Band present In Fields of Honour, a celebration of the tradition of Wind Band community, past and present. Join us as we honour the past and the reason for Remembrance Day, and the Poppy Campaign. Details

4. In Remembrance Concert

This program will feature Messiaen’s Quartet for the End of Time, a work of haunting intensity, written while the composer was held in a prisoner-of-war camp. It will be performed alongside his powerful organ piece Combat de la mort et de la vie, as well as other works that invite reflection. Details

5. Remembrance Day Film Screening

This Remembrance Day, join the Royal Alberta Museum for a film screening of Cree Code Talker, a film that recognizes the role of Canadian Cree code talker Charles ‘Checker’ Tomkins during the Second World War. As Canadian law criminalized Indigenous languages, Cree was being used in World War II to save lives. This film captures a mixture of interviews, rare audio, archival documents, war footage, and a brother’s memories. An homage to a forgotten war hero. Details

7. Songs of War and Peace

Join Northern Lights Folk Club for an evening of heartfelt songs reflecting the emotions, stories and lessons of war and peace throughout the ages with Tim Chesterton and Bill Werthmann. Joined by some of Edmonton’s best musicians, Bill and Tim add rich harmonies to each other’s songs in what promises to be a memorable night of music and storytelling.

Royal Canadian Legion, on behalf of the people of Canada, organizes and conducts the National Remembrance Day service in Ottawa. National Remembrance Day Ceremony will also be broadcast live on Facebook and TV.

Canadian War Museum Remembrance Day Ceremony

The Canadian War Museum invites Canadians from across the country and around the world to participate in one of the most moving Remembrance Day ceremonies in Canada. On November 11, at exactly 11 a.m. (EST), sunlight enters through a single window in Memorial Hall, illuminating the headstone of Canada’s Unknown Soldier. Details

3. Edmonton

No Stone Left Alone Remembrance Ceremony

Annual No Stone Left Alone ceremony, where junior high school students, soldiers and community members will gather to remember Canada’s fallen military personnel by placing poppies on solders’ headstones in the Fields of Honour. Details

Various Cemeteries in the Edmonton Area

Remembrance Ceremony at City Hall Plaza

A Remembrance Day ceremony will be held at City Hall to honour the achievements and sacrifices of those who served our country in times of war and peace.

Guests must enter from the south side of City Hall and are requested to be inside City Hall no later than 9:50am.

Following the service, there will be an outdoor procession to the City Hall Cenotaph, where wreaths will be laid.

South Alberta Light Horse Remembrance Day Ceremony & Parade

The Old Strathcona Community would like to invite all to the annual Remembrance Day with The South Alberta Light Horse Regiment at Light Horse Park. This is a community service and will include members of the military, the Edmonton Police Service, the Scouts, and a number of Cadet Corps. You are invited to join the community and The South Alberta Light Horse Regiment as they conduct at Church
parade at Holy Trinity Anglican Church (10037 84 Ave) starting at 9:50am.

The annual parade & ceremony. Frollwoing the church service at Maranatha Christian Reformed Church, a procession will march to the Cenotaph for the service at the Cenotaph. Details

From there, a procession will march to the Cenotaph from the church starting at approximately 10:20 a.m.
The service at the Cenotaph will then begin at 10:50 a.m.

Kingsway Legion Remembrance Day Ceremony

A ceremony will take place at the Kingsway Legion Cenotaph on November 11 and will follow the standard format as laid out in the Ritual, Awards & Protocol Manual.

The Royal Canadian Legion Branch 281, in partnership with the City of Spruce Grove, organizes and hosts the annual Remembrance Day service. Details.

7. St. Albert

 

The Remembrance Day parade will start on Taché Street across from the St. Albert Royal Canadian Legion at approximately 10:40 a.m. It will move along the St. Anne Promenade to St. Anne Street and end at the Cenotaph. The annual service will begin at 11 a.m. on November 11 at the Cenotaph.
