Saskatchewan hunters eager for a chance at hunting some of the province’s most sought-after species can begin applying for the 2025 Big Game Draw starting May 1. The draw provides limited-entry opportunities to hunt mule deer, moose, elk, and pronghorn in designated areas across the province.
The application deadline is set for May 29 at 4:00 p.m., and it’s firm—no extensions or late submissions will be accepted. All applications must be submitted online through the province’s Hunting, Angling and Trapping Licence (HAL) system.
“The Big Game Draw is your opportunity to experience Saskatchewan’s world-class hunting firsthand,” Environment Minister Travis Keisig said in a media release. “We want every hunter to have a fair chance at success, and that starts with applying early and being prepared.”
To streamline the process, hunters are advised to log into their HAL accounts ahead of time, use the online residency verification tool, and consult the 2025 Big Game Draw Supplement available at saskatchewan.ca/hunting for detailed information on quotas and regulations.
Draw results will be released in stages, with most species announced in mid-June and pronghorn results expected by mid-July. While email notices will be sent, it’s each applicant’s responsibility to check their HAL account for outcomes.
Successful applicants can purchase their licences beginning August 1 through the HAL system. For support, hunters can visit saskatchewanhal.ca, call 1-888-773-8450, or contact the Ministry of Environment for further assistance.
