Alberta Reports 1,510 New COVID-19 Cases

Alberta reported 1,510 new COVID-19 cases on September 9th, the highest number of cases since May 12th.

Currently, there are 15,977 active cases across Alberta. 679 individuals are being treated in hospital for COVID with 154 in intensive care units.

The positivity rate is 11.7 per cent.

 

The R value, also known as the reproduction number, describes whether cases are currently increasing, decreasing or staying the same was 1.12 (with a confidence interval of 1.10-1.14) as of September 5th.

The province has published detailed metrics of the effectiveness of COVID-19 vaccines with respect to the number of patients in hospitals with pre-existing conditions like respiratory diseases, diabetes, stroke, dementia, cardiovascular disease, liver diseases, renal diseases, cancer and immuno-deficiency diseases among various age groups.

The metrics show currently there are no fully vaccinated Albertans below 40 years of age in hospitals.

Three completely vaccinated Albertans with no pre-existing conditions died in the past 120 days due to COVID-19.
