Events Description
Each year on July 1, Strathcona County hosts a family-friendly Canada Day celebration at Broadmoor Lake Park. Events vary each year, but activities often include fireworks, live entertainment, scavenger hunts, food courts, canoeing and more.
Highlights include:
- Live entertainment from talented local performers
- Interactive stage shows with the always-energetic Beppie
- Lap and recreation swims at Kinsmen Leisure Centre
- Back-to-basics fun with Just Play activities
HOW MUCH
Tickets :
Most activities are free, but some require tickets or an Unlimited Access Wristband – $5
Wristbands will not be sold on July 1.
On July 1, activity tickets can be purchased on-site for $1 per activity.
Voyageur Canoe Rides require two tickets: Canoe Rides sponsored by Cameron Corporation require two tickets: an activity ticket purchased or $1 (or a pre-purchased activity wristband) and a timed ticket which you can get at the information/ticket booth on the Broadmoor Lake Plaza.

Please remember that activities on the Broadmoor Lake Park fields close at 4 p.m.
The $5 unlimited activity wristbands are available BEFORE Canada Day at the following locations:
- Recreation Administration Office (Open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed from 12 noon to 1 p.m. – 2025 Oak Street | Vic Bidzinski Way)

- 11 p.m. Northern Lights Fiber Fireworks Show
Food vendors will be located in the Kinsmen Leisure Centre parking lot, open from 10 a.m. – 11 p.m. There are a variety of options to satisfy everyone’s cravings.

Free Transit- Park & Ride:
- To the festival: Buses depart every 15 minutes starting at 8:30 a.m. from Bethel Transit Terminal (650 Bethel Drive) to Broadmoor Lake Park. The last shuttle to the festival leaves at 11:30 p.m.
- Return trips: Return buses run every 15 minutes beginning at 8:45 a.m. from the entrance of Festival Place (100 Festival Way). The final return shuttle departs at 11:45 p.m.
Road Closure:
- Festival Lane will be closed from 8 a.m. – 12 noon (Festival Avenue will be open)
- Festival Way will be closed from 8 p.m. – 12 midnight (local traffic only)
- Festial Lane and Festival Avenue will be closed from 10:30 p.m. – 12 midnight
- Oak Street will be closed from the south of the Broadmoor Public Golf Course to Sherwood Drive from 8 p.m. – 12 midnight (local traffic only)
- Sherwood Drive will be closed during the fireworks show from 11 p.m. – 11:15 p.m.
