Each year on July 1, Strathcona County hosts a family-friendly Canada Day celebration at Broadmoor Lake Park. Events vary each year, but activities often include fireworks, live entertainment, scavenger hunts, food courts, canoeing and more.

Highlights include:

  • Highlights include:
    Keyera Stage headliner: Hailey Benedict, CCMA Award Winning Country music singer-songwriter, 9:45 p.m.
  • Just Play area: Explore themed play zones with gardening, water fun, science activities, bubble zone, a Family Foam Party and more.
  • Field activities: Enjoy Dynamo Dogsports demos, bounce through inflatables, try your luck at carnival games, hop on a wagon ride or join a circus workshop.
  • Interactive stage shows: Featuring lively performances by Northern Empire Marching Band and Shito-Ryu Karate Demonstration.
  • Local talent on stage: Celebrate our community with performances by local artists, entertainers and demo groups.
  • All-ages attractions: Face painting, caricatures, craft zones, free swims, Cameron Corporation canoe rides – the list goes on! A variety of family-friendly experiences can be found across the festival grounds.

HOW MUCH

Tickets :

Most activities are free, but some require tickets or an Unlimited Access Wristband – $5

Wristbands will not be sold on July 1.

On July 1, activity tickets can be purchased on-site for $1 per activity.

Voyageur Canoe Rides require two tickets: Canoe Rides sponsored by Cameron Corporation require two tickets: an activity ticket purchased or $1 (or a pre-purchased activity wristband) and a timed ticket which you can get at the information/ticket booth on the Broadmoor Lake Plaza.

How to get tickets?

Individual activity tickets will be available for purchase for $1 on July 1 at:

  • Festival Place (100 Festival Way)
    Kinsmen Leisure Centre (2001 Oak Street | Vic Bidzinski Way)
    Plaza Information Booth
    Broadmoor Lake Park Field Information Booth
    Pancake Breakfast Info Booth (Community Centre)

Please remember that activities on the Broadmoor Lake Park fields close at 4 p.m.

The $5 unlimited activity wristbands are available BEFORE Canada Day at the following locations:

  • Recreation Administration Office (Open Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., closed from 12 noon to 1 p.m. – 2025 Oak Street | Vic Bidzinski Way)
    Millennium Place (2000 Premier Way)
    Kinsmen Leisure Centre (2001 Oak Street | Vic Bidzinski Way)
    Festival Place (100 Festival Way)
    Glen Allan Recreation Complex (199 Georgian Way)
    Ardrossan Recreation Complex (80-1 Ave, Ardrossan)
    Sherwood Park Mall – guest services desk

The wristbands give you unlimited access to ticketed activities. There are a limited number available, get yours before they sell out!

Free Transit- Park & Ride:

  • Strathcona County Transit offers a free Park N’ Ride service to get you to and from the Festival.
  • Guests are to park at the Bethel Transit Terminal (650 Bethel Drive) for departures to Broadmoor Lake Park, the Park N’ Ride operates every 15 minutes beginning with an 8:30 a.m. departure from Bethel Terminal. Last departure from Bethel will be at 11:30 p.m.
  • The drop off point is near the front doors of Festival Place (100 Festival Way.)
  • Returns start at 8:45 a.m. from in front of Festival Place operating every 15 minutes. Last departure from the Festival will be at 11:45 p.m.

Road Closure:

  • Festival Lane will be closed from 8 a.m. – 12 noon (Festival Avenue will be open)
  • Festival Way will be closed from 8 p.m. – 12 midnight (local traffic only)
  • Festial Lane and Festival Avenue will be closed from 8 p.m. – 12 midnight
  • Oak Street will be closed from the south of the Broadmoor Public Golf Course to Sherwood Drive from 8 p.m. – 12 midnight (local traffic only)
  • Sherwood Drive will be closed during the fireworks show from 11 p.m. – 11:15 p.m.
