Southern Alberta is home to multiple ski resorts and areas, XC ski trails, and even ice racing and sailing. And now we can add another item to our winter bucket list!
You can now sign up for snowkiting lessons with Kite Alberta. The sporting outfitter is based in the Calgary area, so the snow kiting lessons take place in the scenic mountain/foothill area.
Kite Alberta’s owner, Ryan Ehman, guides and instructs the lessons. He is an experienced kiteboarder, lover of adventure, and encourages all of us to embrace windy winters. His love of adventure has enabled him to kiteboard in location all around the world- both on snow and on the water.
Kiteboarding is commonly done on the water. But this is Canada, and the frozen lakes can provide the perfect conditions for the unique sport of snowkiting.
Allow Kite Alberta to help you glide, fly, and experience the powder in a completely new way. Your instructor will teach you about using the wind, how to stay safe, and most importantly, how to stick a safe landing.
The experience is like skiing and snowboarding in that riders use the snow to glide with the board, or two. But, the wind and kite elements add a perfect extra challenge and thrills.
