The forearm of St. Francis Xavier is coming to Canada for a month-long, 14-city pilgrimage beginning with Catholic Christian Outreach’s (CCO) Rise Up conference in Ottawa Dec. 28 – Jan. 1. The Archdiocese of Ottawa, the Jesuits in Canada and Catholic Christian Outreach are collaborating to deliver this incredible opportunity to all Canadians.
Saint Francis Xavier’s forearm, which has not experienced natural decay since his death in 1552, is available for public veneration, in 14 cities. With this hand, Xavier was responsible for baptizing more than 100,000 people in his lifetime and the Church only occasionally permits the relic to be removed from its usual display at the the Church of the Gesù in Rome.
There will be events in 14 Canadian cities throughout January. The Relic will travel across Canada from Ottawa, returning to Montreal and then Ottawa on January 31, 2018.
