Subway Canada is reshaping its menu around one clear priority: protein. The company has introduced a new Fresh Fit lineup aimed at Canadians who say getting enough protein, especially at lunch, remains a challenge.

According to a national survey conducted with the Harris Poll, 69% of Canadians plan to eat more protein in the year ahead. Yet 27% say lunchtime is the hardest meal to meet those goals, while 44% point to the cost of protein as a barrier. Subway’s response is a set of pre-built sandwiches designed to be straightforward, filling, and nutritionally defined.
The Fresh Fit menu includes five six-inch subs, each made on multigrain bread baked in-house, topped with Canadian cheddar and vegetables, and kept under 500 calories while delivering at least 21 grams of protein. All are customizable and prepared to order.
Fresh Fit menu items include:
- Fresh Fit Rotisserie-Style Chicken: 30 g protein; rotisserie-style chicken with cheddar, vegetables, and mayo
- Fresh Fit Turkey: 21 g protein; sliced turkey breast with cheddar, vegetables, and mayo
- Fresh Fit Sweet Onion Teriyaki: 28 g protein; teriyaki-glazed chicken strips, cheddar, vegetables, and Sweet Onion Teriyaki sauce
- Fresh Fit Steak & Cheese: 26 g protein; shaved steak, cheddar, vegetables, and chipotle sauce
- Fresh Fit Tuna: 24 g protein; wild-caught tuna mixed with mayo, cheddar, and vegetables
Chef John Botelho, who developed the menu, said the goal was to highlight the chain’s existing protein options while keeping flavours familiar and meals convenient.
