Did you know that a Canadian invented medicinal Insulin?
Crown Royal Super Bowl Ad
The Canadian whiskey company Crown Royal aired a commercial during the Super Bowl listing some of the contributions people should Thank Canada for.
Though the 1-minute Thank You Canada advertisement does not mention one of Canada’s most significant contributions to the world, it lists several lesser-known inventions.
In the ad, Foo Fighters’ Dave Grohl thanked innovative Canada for several great things that came out of the country from musicians and comedians to food and gadgets and games.
The 60-second commercial begins with Dave Grohl in a recording studio saying, “Today, let’s thank Canada.”
He thanks Canada for legends of music and comedy while the screen shows music records of Rush, Joni Mitchell, Oscar Peterson and Celine Dion, followed by images of comedians like Eugene Levy and Martin Short.
He then recites Canadian inventions big and small including peanut butter, the paint roller, poutine (which he explains, “That’s french fries with cheese and gravy”) replay, the walkie-talkie, the battery, egg carton, the ironing board, the electric wheelchair, Hawaiian pizza, instant potatoes, canola oil, trash bags and even the whoopie cushion.
The Foo Fighters frontman mentions basketball and ice hockey and finishes off the list with “… and Thank you, for football.”
The commercial ends with Grohl saying, “Thank you, Canada.”
Thank You, indeed!
